Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will be a key player in
providing operational and financial support to for affiliate revenue and cost. In
particular, the role supports month end close, variance analysis and board reporting,
which includes key performance indicators, financial results and milestones. The
role will also help to understand indirect departmentsí cost structure by partnering
with relevant finance partners
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare monthly executive dashboards with accurate financials, KPIs and insightful
Inform management on ways to optimize expense and drive revenue
Provide monthly variance analysis and explanations
Participate in month-end close process by ensuring GLs accurately reflect monthly
expenses by reviewing accruals and monthly variances to plan
Participate in "deep dives" into various project expenses to ensure expenses are
being classified to projects appropriately and recognized as CapEx/OpEx correctly
Proactively identify areas ripe for efficiency gains by streamlining/automating
reports, tasks, processes
Maintain and provide insights to the affiliate contract model
Ad hoc reporting, business case preparation, and analysis as needed to support
Assist in the development of driver-based expense plans (Call-the Quarters,
Budgets, Forecasts, Strategic Long Range plans)
Position Management - Monitor and track headcount and approved positions for one
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or computer science with at least
4 years of diverse experience in a related field.
2+ years experience in a partnership role between finance and other departments;
experience within a cable network or media company preferred.
Exceptional reporting and modeling ability
Experience with OLAP-based tools (Cognos, TM1,Hyperion)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to glean useful information out of large data sets
Demonstration of advanced MS Excel skills
Ability to analyze and conceptualize strategically.
Ability to work closely with customers in defining and documenting business
Able to present information in unique and understandable way to a diverse audience.
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and work under time pressure.
Ability to see "big picture" while also willing to work at detail level
Strong interpersonal teamwork and networking skills.
